Tevye, a Jewish milkman in early 20th-century Russia, and his struggle to balance his traditional Jewish faith and family values with the changing times and growing anti-Semitism. The story follows Tevye's attempts to arrange marriages for his daughters within the confines of tradition, while they increasingly desire love matches and challenge those traditions. The play explores themes of love, family, faith, and the impact of societal change on a community facing displacement and persecution.
